NESBR’s annual Biomedical Research Day honors luncheon and program will return this year on Thursday, October 22, 2026. This year’s program will be hosted at Charles River Labs, Wilmington, Massachusetts.

Initially proclaimed in 1993 by President Bill Clinton on October 21 – Alfred Nobel’s birthday – and followed by a like declaration from the Massachusetts legislature in 2006, Biomedical Research Day is marked as a day to “… celebrate the central role played by biomedical research in improving human health and longevity… [and] acknowledge the promise this wide-ranging endeavor holds for securing the future physical and mental well-being of people around the world.”

For the past 20 years, NESBR has marked the occasion by honoring select individuals from the region for their contributions to biomedical research. Honorees are selected by the NESBR Board of Directors in four categories: Investigator, Educator, Government Leader and Business Leader.
